The Lagoon 55 is a large, modern, performance cruising catamaran. They are one of many cruising catamarans designed and built by Jeanneau (JTA, Jeanneau Technique Advances). The designers were Marc Van Peteghem and Vincent Lauriot Prevost who used their knowledge of offshore racing and the latest racing sailboat design technologies to produce a cutting edge cruising catamaran. JTA built numerous catamarans designed by these two designers from 1987 thru 1996, including the Lagoon 37, 47, 55, 57 and 67. About 20 of the Lagoon 55's were built. All were composite (cored sandwich) construction for lightness and strength. The majority were built using fiberglass & epoxy. A few were built using Kevlar and epoxy. This particular Lagoon 55 is constructed in fiberglass and epoxy. The Lagoon 55 is 55 ft LOA and has a 30 ft beam. The waterline length is 50 ft. Draft is just shy of 4 ft. Displacement is 28,600 lbs. They were designed with four private cabins and heads accessible via the saloon and galley, and two private crew or gear storage cabins (forward in the hulls), accessible via deck hatches. They sleep 8-11 people in 4-5 double berths and one single berth. Lagoon 55's are being sailed around the world from the clear blue waters of the Caribbean, Atlantic & Mediteranean to the South Pacific. They have proven to be strong, very fast, comfortable boats with plenty of room for ship's equipment, people and recreational gear.
This particular Lagoon 55 is very special. It is probably the best equipped and best cared for Lagoon 55 in service or for sale today. It has been continuously upgraded in every respect including major refits in 1999 and 2001. She now sports a custom aluminum and fiberglass hardtop/bimini (new 1999), a new aluminum mast & Romar "Leisurefurl" boom (with in-boom furling, both new 2001), new standing and running rigging (new 2001), two new Doyle sails, a Doyle fully battened, furling mainsail and a Doyle furling genoa, (both new 2001). Sail sizes are: 1130 SF main, 484 SF genoa & 300 SF staysail), 1935 SF spinnaker, two new Yanmar 65 HP diesels (both new 1999), a new Fischer-Panda 10 kw 120 vac generator (new 1999), a new HRO 55 gph, watermaker (new 2006), and a new washer/dryer (new 06), new house and starting batteries, (new 6/2008), hauled & bottom painted (2008). You can see the complete and detailed list of equipment and photos in the "Full Specs" section.
This 55 ft catamaran will make it's new owner happy for many years, with her size, comfort, speed, accomodations and amenities, whether she is used for charter or for private use, and whether she is used for regional or world cruising. Please note that she is available at a fraction of the cost of a newer, similarly sized and equipped catamaran. If you are looking for a large, performance cruising catamaran, you must see her. Call or email us for more info and/or to arrange for an appointment. Thank you.

Hulls, deck, coachhouse & trampolines
This Lagoon 55 measures 55' LOA by 31' beam. Robust rub rails have been added to each hull to help protect the hull sides from knocks and bumps. Construction of the hulls and coachhouse is a composite cored sandwich of fiberglass and epoxy for light weight and strength. The design is one offering relatively low freeboard and a low coachhouse for minimum wind resistance. The hulls, deck and coachhose are white Awlgrip. Visibility from almost anywhere onboard is excellent. Eight large windows and the double sliding glass doors offer excellent visibility from, and natural light into the full width salon. The deck has twelve Goiot opening aluminum hatches. The hulls each contain three comfortable cabins and two heads. The primary sleeping cabins are the two midship cabins and the two aft cabins. They all have private heads and direct access to the saloon. The most forward port cabin, (entered via a deck hatch) is currently devoted to storage of the boat's large sail inventory. The forward starboard cabin (entered via a deck hatch) is currently devoted to being a handy workshop area. Amidship in the starboard hull is a spacious galley. Amidship in the port hull is the navigation station and control panels for the ships systems, electrics, navigation and communications. Each hull is fitted with a midship Goiot aluminum escape hatch located beneath the ladders.

Cockpit & Saloon
The Lagoon 55 affords it's crew and passengers lavish accomodations inside and outside. She is spacious, light and well ventilated. She offers excellent all around visibility from the deck, cockpit and saloon. The robust welded aluminum tube frame and fiberglass hard, bimini assure security and plenty of shade throughout the cockpit area. The cockpit affords comfortable seating for at least ten people. Custom white vinyl cushions for all seats assure and comfort for everyone. A large varnished teak folding table to starboard enables all around seating. And more seating can easily be added. The cockpit sole is teak, and can be kept beautiful and secure to walk on. There is a handy refrigerator/icemaker in the cockpit, (next to the port helm instrument console. Large sliding glass doors can be opened or closed to permit unimpeded traffic flow from cockpit to saloon, or can be closed to separate the spaces.
Twin helms with dual Mathers engine controls assure excellent visibility and easy maneuvering from either helm position. Five winches, 2 port and 3 starboard, allow easy sail handling. One of the winches at the starboard helm position is a Harken #53, electric, self-tailing winch, which can multi-task for all sheet and line handling. The Lagoon 55 hulls, have long, tapered sterns with secure teak steps to create an extended waterline and allow safe and easy ingress and egress from the cockpit or deck to the water. Stainless steel folding ladders allow safe and easy boarding. The cockpit has a full enclosure with both izenglass and screen inserts, assuring crew and passengers of being dry and comfortable in any weather. Aft of the cockpit between the two hulls are the ship's 13 ft Avon inflatable with a 40 HP Yanmar outboard, and with center console. Also aft of the cockpit, just inboard of the two hulls, are two 6 person, sealed, cannister type liferafts.
